1. Valley of Love Dalat History

In the 1930s, the French discovered an ideal location – cool climate, poetic landscape and spacious space. Soon after, France reserved this place for senior and important officials to rest and relax. The French named the valley “Vallée d’Amour” which means the Valley of Love.

French couples often choose this Dalat place to date, share, and confess their feelings. In Bao Dai’s era, Vallée d’Amour was renamed Peace Valley.

Not until 1953, the Chairman of Da Lat Council at that time (Mr. Nguyen Vy) suggested translating “Vallée d’Amour” into Vietnamese, which is known as “Thung Lung Tinh Yeu”, and this tourist attraction also has the English name “The Valley of Love”. 

2. Valley of Love – The famous tourist attraction in Dalat, Vietnam (Place to visit in Dalat)

Nowadays, the Valley of Love is known as a famous and attractive tourist attraction in Da Lat, Vietnam. It is about 5 km Northeast from Dalat center. 

Previously, the Valley of Love was known for its deep valleys, endless pine forests and Dalat flowers everywhere making it an ideal destination for couples. While Mong Mo Hill is remembered as a miniature Da Lat that fully preserves Da Lat architecture as well as Central Highlands traditions. Now, the two destinations are combined into one, Valley of Love & Mong Mo Hill. The Valley of Love in the new version with a total area of up to 137 hectares, is a romantic garden where you can experience unique culture amidst poetic natural beauty.

Right at the entrance to the valley, a statue is placed with the image of two hands exchanging rings to each other. This is considered a symbol and represents eternal love, and is also a symbolic image for this Dalat tourist destination.

 

At the heart of the valley is Da Thien Lake which is a dam built during the French period around 1972, 13 hectares wide, creating a highlight for the Valley of Love. The quiet and green lake surface enhances the peacefulness and poetry of the landscape here.

Climbing the stairs around the valley or following the trail covered by a surrounding pine forest that will lead you to Vong Canh hill. There, the entire landscape gradually appears before your eyes. Here you can see Langbiang mountain from afar. Some of the entertainment that visitors can experience at this location are horse riding, jeep safaris, motorboat rides, and boat rides on the lake.

In 1998, the Ministry of Culture recognized the Valley of Love as a National Scenic Monument to make it a worthy place to visit in Dalat.

Take a boat trip to see Da Thien Lake

Da Thien Lake is located in the heart of the valley and provides water bicycle, canoe, and swan boat services. This is definitely an activity you cannot miss if you come here during cool hours to fully see the beauty of the Valley of Love.

Experience “The Hard Road”

If you come here in a large group and like team and adventure games, you can participate in clusters of “continuous games” on the 5.5km route through the hills and pine forests.

Unique challenges here include tire swings, overcoming giant spider webs, climbing horizontal cliffs and especially crossing swamps with wooden poles and elastic ladders.

“Trip” by off-road Jeep to see the valley

If you are looking for a gentle experience but still want to admire all the beauty of Love Valley, a jeep is a perfect choice.

Renting an off-road jeep, you will be able to drive through beautiful but dangerous roads, along the hillsides to see the panoramic view of the valley and Da Thien lake.

7. How to get to Love Valley Dalat, VietNam

The Address of Love Valley Dalat is No. 5 – 7, Mai Anh Dao Street, Ward 8. Da Lat City. It is not too far from the centre, so you can easily get here using Google Maps. Visitors can choose suitable means of transportation such as motorbikes, taxis and cars.

If you are at Xuan Huong Lake in the city center, go to Dinh Tien Hoang Street. After traveling 1 km, you will see Da Lat University intersection which is opposite Phu Dong Thien Vuong Street. Now you just need to go straight down Phu Dong Street 3.5km to Mai Anh Dao Street. 

If you are in VietNam’s other city now, you first come to Dalat City (Lam Dong province) by considering some means of transport like bus, air plane, train or motorbike if you like backpacking. Then, use Google Maps to search the Valley of Love from your location. 

8. The best time to visit Valley of Love Dalat

The open time is from 7a.m to 5p.m in daily. According to experience from previous visitors, you should spend a full morning or afternoon of the day exploring the Valley of Love. This place is quite large and has many places to visit, therefore, within 1-2 hours it is impossible to go all the way.
